            2.  Whither-the-Dimmer’s catastrophic testimony brings a disastrous finality (end) to Motorcycle Jim’s case. P. 13

Chapter 2.  The Hot Hand

          1. Whither-the-Dimmer’s and Whither-the-Slimmer’s grandfather, Colonel W. W. Chapter 3. The Reverse of the Stir

P. 35

            2.  Whither-the-Dimmer while riding on top of the circular outer wall with the Young Reporter on Motorcycle Jim’s classic Indian motorcycle reverses the direction of the motorcycle from clockwise to counter clockwise, causing the booing crowd observing them to start cheering them (as if the change in direction merited a change in mob attitude—pure nonsense). P. 103

Chapter 5.  The Tight Squeeze

          1.  While testifying that Whither-the-Slimmer is still alive, Merci Beaucoup is “tight” on Scotch (P. 144) and states that at the behest of her unofficial guardian, Louie Lavender, she keeps Louie Lavender’s friends company (but only company) when they come to Las Vegas;   she is the visitors’ “squeeze” in mobsters’ slang. P. 142

               2.  If the elephant is to qualify for the jury in the Attempted Murder case, he must fit in the jury box in the seat between jurors 9 and 11; it is estimated by Louie Lavender that because of the elephant’s size getting it to fit in between will be a “tight squeeze.” P. 154

Chapter 6. The Fleeting Glimpse (triple entendre)

          1. For a split second a surprised Motorcycle Jim sees a  woman tied up inside the limousine that he and Whither-the-Dimmer help the thug, Charles Collose, push down a hill until they lose control and the limousine plunges into a lake. P.182

            2. For a moment when they believed their nemesis, Whither-the-Slimmer, was dead,   the dishonest people attending his funeral thought they would not be held accountable for their actions; this misimpression suddenly ends when they discover Whither-the-Slimmer is still alive. P. 195

            3. For just an instant Motorcycle Jim thinks he sees the phrase

                        I LOVE YOU, MOTORCYCLE  JIM!

on Whither-the-Slimmer’s funeral program before the phrase disappears. P. 196
